Autodesk is an American multinational software corporation that makes 3D software services for the architecture, engineering, construction, manufacturing, media, education, and entertainment industries.
The team that I was assigned to was the Maya team. Maya is a 3D computer animation software for 3D artists.
At Autodesk, I was a software developer in charge of developing services for the Maya SDK, and creating/modifiying automated tests to account for my new features:
As mentioned previously, Maya is a 3D animation software. Maya is one of the most popular commercial 3D modelling software systems in the world.
To develop the SDK, I utilized C++, Python, and Maya's own interpreted programming language, MEL. MEL was primarily used for front-end controller operations, as it is more designed for UI communication than the Python SDK is. It is also used for some automated tests.
I had to utilize my knowledge of computer graphics and my software engineering skills to complete a lot of its tasks. Also, its initial release was in 1998, so I had to work with a lot of code that we written 20+ years ago.
